Most Instagrammable Destinations On The Isle Of Wight!
The Isle of Wight is a wonderland for aspiring and seasoned photographers alike. Once you leave the mainland for this idyllic haven off the south coast of England, you will be greeted by some of the most picturesque scenery in the world.
The Isle of Wight has been named the most ‘Instagrammable’ British island. Any influencer knows that scenery is some of the most highly engaging content on the internet. To fill your page with dynamic, authentic, and unique content, we wrap up the most Instagrammable spots on the #IsleOfWight.
Sailing Across The Solent
Keep in mind that the adventure begins the moment you board the ferry. Look out the windows when sailing out across the Solent, or even better, head out on the deck for a #SailingSelfie. Often taking the train from London after work coincides with your journey with the sunset. Sailing past one of the 19th Century forts that stand in the water creates a perfect backdrop for an iconic and intriguing sunset shot.
Mayfair By The Sea
Ventnor is a charming old coastal town and one of the best-known Victorian health resorts in the UK. With a population of around 6,000 people, this beach village is on the island’s southern shore. It flourished during the Victorian era when its beautiful microclimate and fashionable reputation earned the moniker ‘Mayfair by the Sea.’
Even today, the style and fashion quality of Ventnor has not subsided. It still has a Victorian feel with an active art scene and the aesthetic quality of the pubs, restaurants, cafes, and shops surrounding the beach. This is a #foodstegrammers dream come true. The Iconic Needles Formation
On the western tip of the Isle of Wight lies The Needles ‒ an iconic set of stacked chalk rocks protruding from the sea, named for the needle-like structure of the fourth rock that collapsed in 1764.
The catchy name lived on, and the formation is bucket list material for any travel photographer, best viewed from the exhilarating chairlift that travels down to Alum Bay. Another great and absolutely free vantage point can be found from Old Battery, a once rocket test station at the top of the hill. Here you can get the shot that geographically does the landscape the most justice ‒ showcasing a strip of beach below and the pinnacles snaking off into the distance.
Sunrise In Shanklin
Visit Shanklin, a charming little village with thatched-roofed houses and an “olde worlde” atmosphere for some great picture opportunities. Shanklin is a lot of fun to photograph. Old wooden groynes jutting out into the water allow for a lot of creative photography opportunities.
However, the highlight is the row of white beach houses, each with a different door, particularly around sunrise when the light is golden. This is an excellent opportunity to test out a wide-angled lens.
Enter The Itallian Reinesance
Last on our list of most Instagrammable locations on the Isle of Wight is Osborne House. You’d be excused for thinking that you have somehow wandered into a renaissance painting. Bragging rights and beautiful architecture is what await. Be intrigued by the opulent interiors and carefully planned out exteriours. This Italian Renaissance-style Royal Palace was built for Queen Victoria and her family. Today you can tour the castle and its grounds, and there are some excellent photo ops throughout.
Everyone’s Instagram feed is unique, and this is by no means an exclusive list. The Isle of Wight was voted the most Instagramabble destination in the United Kingdom, with almost 900,000 images captured in total. That indicates a plethora of Insta-worthy opportunities.
